Need Assistance Paying Your
Bill?
The good
news is help is available. If
you are experiencing or
anticipating difficulty paying
your bill or the account
balance on time, please
contact us as soon as
possible. Customer Service
staff are prepared to discuss
two options that are available
in a time of need.
A number of local
area social service agencies
provide direct assistance in the
form of partial or full payment of
water bills.

service agencies
In addition, the
District can work with you on
establishing a payment plan even
if a weekly payment works best for
you. Breaking the payment into
smaller, manageable parts may make
the difference between keeping
your account balance current or
facing late fees and penalties
(dependent upon the period of time
elapsed).
There are a couple
of important points to bear in
mind. Water service is billed
after the water has been used and
generally occurs every 8 weeks.
Call us before your account
becomes past due so we can provide
you the best option for
assistance.
Summer Rates are in effect from
June 1 through September 30
If your bill
includes winter and summer
seasons, your bill is pro-rated.
The pro-ration considers that all
the water used in the billing
period was used equally each day.
The amount of water
in each season is calculated by
determining the number of days
from your last meter reading date
to the season change and then the
number of days in the new season.
This number of days is divided by
the total number of days in the
billing period. That percentage
is then used to determine how much
of your consumption is billed in
each season. The consumption
amounts are then applied to the
appropriate rate table. The rate
table can be found under the
Customer Service tab.
If you are
interested in more information
regarding these calculations,
please call our office at (253)
631-0565 and press 2 for customer
service.
The District plans to
replace manual read
meters with electronic
read meters to create
operational
efficiencies. Since
2001, electronic read
meters have been
installed in new
developments. Of the
approximately 20,000
meters District-wide,
nearly 40% are the
newer, more efficient
electronic read type.
Starting April 2009,
the District is
embarking upon a
5-year program to
replace all of the
remaining
non-electronic read
meters. The program
will focus on
replacement of the
oldest meters first.
There is no charge to
the customer for this
change-out.
Electronic read meters offer many
benefits, which include:
Reduction
of meter reading time by up to
75%
Increased meter reading
accuracy
Enhanced technology permits
reporting of small water leaks
in a more timely fashion.
We will be working in the
southeast portion of the District
in 2010 in the following areas:
Auburn Black Diamond
Road
Lake Morton area
Lake Money Smith
Road area
Lake Holm Road
South of Covington
Sawyer Road
