How to pay your water bill?
-
The District now
offers you the option to review your account
and/or pay your water bill on line.
to sign up now. With this online option you
can elect to have your bill sent electronically
and have your credit card automatically charged on
the due date on your water bill.
-
You may mail
your payment to P.O. Box 9109, Covington, WA 98042-0074. If you are paying from a disconnect notice (PINK Paper) - do
NOT mail your payment. The District may not receive your payment in time
and may lock the meter.
-
You may call the
District and pay your bill over the phone with a
Visa or Master Card during
working hours, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (except holidays).
You also may use a debit card, if the card has a Master Card or Visa logo on
it.
-
Drop your
payment off at the office located at 18631 SE 300th Pl., Covington. Office hours are
Monday thru Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm (except holidays). For your convenience,
the District has a drop box located at the northeast corner of the building for after-hours payments. All payments received after 4:30pm will be posted the
following business day.
-
You
may have the payment automatically deducted from your
checking or savings account. Print out
and complete the
auto-pay application.
Mail or drop off the completed application (don't forget to sign the
application) to the District office at 18631 SE 300th Pl., Covington, WA
98042. If you
have any questions regarding this please contact
us by
email or call
253-631-0565 during normal
business hours (8:00am-5:00 pm Monday-Friday).
Only bills produced AFTER the auto pay form
has been received by the District may be paid
thru this process.
-
Acceptable
forms of payment are check, money order, cash, Visa, MasterCard. Cash payments should not
be mailed, but made in person at the office.
Billing
Depending on the area, the District bills customers on
a monthly or bi-monthly basis. The first billing you receive from the
District will include a one time set-up charge.
Payments are due
25 days after the bill date, and if not
paid, are subject to a 10% late fee.
If payment is not received within 40 days
after the bill date a disconnect notice is
mailed. Payment must be received
within 7 days or additional fees are
assessed and the water is turned off until
paid in full.
Street lights may also be
included in your billing if street lights have been installed in your area. The
purpose of this lighting is to generally enhance the nighttime visibility of
neighborhood streets and intersections, rather than individual properties.
The District, in turn, pays Puget Sound
Energy - the agency responsible for
installation, maintenance and for
providing power to the street lights.
The District
charges a fee of $30.00 for returned
checks.
Senior Citizen Low Income and/or
Disabled Low Income Discount
The District offers
qualified low-income senior citizens and
low-income disabled customers a rate discount, by
waiving the fixed rate charge for single-family
residential connections for all senior or disabled
citizens who met the low-income criteria
established by the Board of Commissioners. If you feel you
may qualify and would like more information, please call the District at
253-631-0565 during normal business hours (8:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday).
You can also print out and complete the
application. Mail or drop off
the completed application (don't forget to sign the application) to the District
office at 18631 SE 300th Pl., Covington, WA 98042.
If you have any questions you may contact us by
email or by phone at 253-631-0565.
Balances from Previous Owners
Many new owners are not aware that, unlike
other utilities, water charges are associated with the property rather than with
the person who incurs the charge. What this means is that property
ownership is transferred along with any unpaid balance to the new owner.
The District does prepare a final bill for the previous owner. However, if
the previous owner does not pay the final bill, the responsibility lies with the
new owner.
The District does
not bill renters, only owners. For
non-owner occupied residences, reminder
and disconnect notices are mailed to the
service address in the name of "Resident".
At the owner's request a copy of the bill
can also be mailed to "Resident" at the
service address.
