Affects of Flushing

You may not even be aware that flushing is taking place in your neighborhood unless you've seen the posted
signs. However, you are encouraged to refrain from using water, whenever possible, when flushing is occurring
in your area. The UDF process lifts naturally occurring sediment and minerals from the mains, which may
cause the water to become discolored and/or cloudy until the process is completed.

Using water in your residence when UDF is occurring may bring the discolored water into your plumbing system
and could discolor washing or clog the screens on your taps.

Flushing will generally be conducted between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Select
hydrants in each neighborhood will be opened for flushing. While the hydrants are open, the homes on that
block may experience discolored water, or a slight drop in pressure. However, your water service should not be
interrupted.
